The Schubert Male Chorus (“The Schubes”) is a male chorus of some 25 members from the Port Huron, Michigan area. Our music director is Terry Beasley, and Jyme Hager is our piano accompanist. The focus of the Chorus is to share the gift of music, and thus to enhance the quality of life in our community.
The chorus was founded in 1907. Our repertoire ranges from the classics to the popular, from the sacred to the secular, and from the old to the new.
We present two main concerts per year – one before the December holidays and a spring concert in May or June. We also perform on request for civic groups, service clubs and private gatherings. In December we sing at retirement homes to bring the holiday spirit to those that might not otherwise hear live music.
We have fun while being serious about our music, and we are always looking for new male singers. We rehearse typically once a week from September through May with a break for the winter holidays. Please join us if you have some basic musical knowledge and indicate your interest by emailing our director at schubertdirector@gmail.com, or leaving a voice message at (810) 334-1402, or mailing to Schubert Male Chorus, PO Box 610604 Port Huron, MI 48061-0604.
Come and make music with us!
Please can you tell me if Wayne Arnold is still a singing member of your chorus?
No he’s not singing with us in 2023. However, he is very much alive and well.
